Good to know

This spacious 3 bed/2 bath sleeps 8 adults + a few kids. There are 2 levels to the house that are accessible and available to all guests. Larger trained dogs are allowed. Please contact me with the weight, breed and age of your dog to confirm pet accommodations and fees. THE TOWN Franklin, North Carolina is famous for hiking, fishing, driving and beautiful mountain scenery year round. It offers country mountain roads, abundant fishing, gem mining and a small town feel with amenities galore. The "downtown" part of Franklin has supermarkets, shops, cafes, breweries, arcade, movie theater, and more. Creekside Basecamp is just 13 minutes away from town and situated on a paved mountain road (NC scenic byway) surrounded by nothing but trees and water so you'll be fully immersed in nature. OTHER NEARBY TOWNS We are near Highlands (45 minutes), Cashiers (55 minutes), Bryson City (55 minutes), Asheville (90 minutes), Hayesville & Lake Chatuge (35 minutes), the Blue Ridge Parkway, Nantahala Lake (20 minutes), Cherokee Harrah's Casino (50 minutes), Great Smoky Mountain National Park (1 hour) and downtown Franklin (13 minutes). The Nantahala region is located in the Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge mountains. AIRPORTS Asheville AVL airport is 90 minutes away and Atlanta ATL ariport is 2.5 hours away. If you happen to be a pilot, Franklin has its own Macon County Airport 25 minutes away. WHY STAY AT CREEKSIDE BASECAMP? The location is perfect for nature lovers, hikers, fishermen, explorers, adventurers, driving enthusiasts, motorcycle riders and those that enjoy peaceful time surrounded by greenery and strong-flowing water. Dip your toes in the creek or join the club and do a full plunge dip - it's very refreshing and invigorating. Sonos speakers placed throughout the house are connected to an iPad so you can stream music. Stream TV or we have hundreds of DVDs and board games to choose from. We do have Starlink, but please keep in mind that the internet in the mountains may be slower than what you're used to. Upon booking you'll get access to 2 welcome guidebooks with details, instructions and tips for the house and the Western North Carolina area. DOGS Larger trained dogs are allowed. Please contact me with the weight, breed and age of your dog to confirm pet accommodations and fees. This is not a typical cabin in the woods. It's clean. It's fresh. It's recently renovated and nicely furnished. It's close to town but feels private at the same time. Hike directly across the street from the property or drive a couple minutes up the road to see beautiful waterfalls and trails (details included in the guidebook).

Neighborhood

You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet it's just a 12-minute drive to downtown Franklin where you can explore cafes, shops, well-stocked clean supermarkets and supply stores, yoga classes, an arcade, movie theater, and much more. Should you need banking, shipping or big-box stores during your stay, you'll enjoy the convenience of them in town. The 1 acre property has 2 active rushing creeks running through it and is surrounded on 2 sides by US Forest Service land, so there's privacy and lots to explore. The house is approximately 5 miles from the start of scenic Wayah Road in the town of Franklin. For hiking and waterfall enthusiasts, there's water directly on the property to enjoy looking at or going in. There's also a hiking trail across the street that you can walk to. There's another hike with waterfalls a few miles down the road that you can drive to. There are literally dozens of hiking options all around Franklin and Western NC for all levels. For running and walking enthusiasts, the trail across the street has a great dirt path that goes for many miles with inclines and declines. In addition to that, the forest is yours to explore.

Guest Access

The entire home is available to you except the basement and garage. There are 3 separate areas to park. Multiple cars and motorcycles can fit comfortably. If you park in the lower driveway, consider backing in for easy exit. You do NOT need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to the house or to park in the driveways.

We're a 12-minute drive to town, so unless you're planning to do a lot of bicycle riding, you'll need a mode of transportation to conveniently come and go from your stay at Creekside Basecamp, and to get around Franklin and all of the places you may choose to visit in Western North Carolina. Cars, trucks, RVs and motorcycles are all good options.
